It starts by taking ownership 10/28/2011
As divided as we are as a nation, and as many different opinions as you might find about the issues facing our country and the causal factors, one fact remains...we have an ownership issue. Congress wants to blame the President, the President wants to blame Congress, the people want to blame the entire government. Ironically, if you want to assign blame, which really does nothing to advance us toward a solution, blame yourself. Let me say it again, blame yourself. That's right, at least for now, we still have a government designed to be "of the people, by the people, and for the people." WE ARE THE ONES TO BLAME, because we have the power to fix it, and we haven't. We are the ones who put these people in office, and we are the ones who have abandoned all sense of ownership and responsibility, and instead placed our fate in the hands of a small group of self serving people. To make matters worse, when it started to go south for us, decades ago, instead of stepping up and holding those people accountable, we just buried our heads in the sand took the "victim" stance. Well folks, we're only victims of our own actions. How does a nation of over 300 million people transfer control to a tiny group of only 545 people, and simply stand back and watch while they destroy our country? Well, we're not watching anymore, and neither should you. CommentsJeff Green 10/30/2011 12:08
Sat and watched the Sunday morning news shows and realized that there are no competant political candidates for us to choose. It's up to us to fix the problems of today. So let's find the Lewis and Clark in each of us and leave Yosemite Sam and Elmer Fudd to lead somewhere else. As the rest of the world once sought to be us, we lost what made us an exceptional nation. It's time to become reacquainted with what made us great--it's us, when we work together.
